It’s time for a makebetter my friends. I would say its time for a makeover, but a makeover usually means covering something up when instead, we want to make this a lifestyle change. Living a healthy lifestyle is extremely important for your well-being as a whole. Here are some steps that you can take to give yourself a makebetter. Good luck!
Step one: Sleep is the best medicine. How many times have we heard that phrase before? Nevertheless this statement is correct. Our bodies need to rest and unwind from our strenuous days. You burn calories while sleeping and if you get a good amount of rest, your whole body will thank you for it, including your skin. You will gain a healthy glow when you get a minimum of 8 hours of sleep per night. Trust me, your body will thank you for it.
The next way to living a healthy lifestyle is eating right.
Catherine Hill, 21, says, “I would say living a healthy lifestyle doesn’t happen over night. It takes small steps. Cutting out excessive sugar, exercising regularly, and eating more fruits and vegetables. Also, it’s ok to splurge sometimes Too many people think they can never have any sweets.”
Lay off the Oreos and Pizza and start eating whole grain snacks and lots of veggies. It’s okay to indulge every once in a while, but you need to maintain a healthy balanced diet. Drink plenty of water and eat more chicken and fish. Dark green vegetables are the best thing for your body and instead of drinking coffee, start drink herbal teas. Green tea is a great antioxidant and does wonders for your skin.
Another great way to eating right is going on a detox every once in a while. There are plenty of cleanses, such as colon cleanses, that will help flush out any toxins from your system.
Step three: Take care of your body. Vitamins, vitamins, vitamins. It’s not fun swallowing a million different pills. If you don’t like swallowing them all, just stick with Vitamin C. This bad boy will aid your immune system, give you energy, and help you stay regular in the bathroom department if you catch my drift. Make sure you are going to your doctor for annual check ups.
Now, let’s get into the touchy subject of keeping a healthy lifestyle. No smoking, no excessive drinking, and absolutely no drugs. I know that was harsh but you do not want to put these things into your body at all. They will make you age faster in your complexion and we all know how bad they are for your body. So…don’t mess.
The fourth step is having daily exercise. This could range from walking for a half hour to doing a complete cardio workout. Sometimes you just don’t have time to go to the gym, which is understandable. But you still need to exercise; there is just no way around it.
Courtney Aperfine, 21, says, “I have a hard time doing the same workout routine everyday. So I usually will rotate running one day and then doing a cardio or pilates workout the next. I always try to keep it fresh so I don’t get bored by doing the same thing everyday.”
If you don’t like going to the gym or running around the neighborhood, then join a dance class or play tennis with friends. Go on a hike, bike around town, or just use the stairs at work for Pete’s sake. Whatever you do, remember to get at least a half hour of exercise everyday.
The last step for gaining a healthy lifestyle is surrounding yourself with loving people. This might sound strange but it is a must. If you are constantly hanging around people who bring you down and make you feel bad about yourself, they can produce unnecessary stress in your life and make you depressed. Immerse yourself with people who encourage you and lift you up. The right friends can make a bad day turn around and give you a couple laughs along the way.
